Loins of Punjab presents….
This movie “Loins of Punjab presents” played at the Castro theatre today (part of the 3rd-i festival) and was absolutely hilarious throughout. When I saw the trailer I thought this was going to be another american-desi movie with some boring plot and no concrete story. But it turned out great. I was laughing from the beginning to the end.
[spoiler alert] The movie even got a standing ovation, which was sort-of obligatory. How does a director do such a thing? (i.e. make people stand up in the theatre) ? Simple. Have the national anthem play, and since it is obligatory for all indians to stand up when the anthem is played, all the Indians in the theatre got up. Then everybody else joined in, so as not to get left out, or because some gujju’s behind was now blocking their view of the screen.
Absolute genius.
