My Granny is a racist!
Warning: This post contains racist remarks.
So, I was reading some desi blog entry about how a brown indian actor in an upcoming movie was made white fair-complexioned, by a lot of painstaking CGI/color-correction for each frame of that movie.
Bah! The allure of whiter flesh! A lot of Indians prefer fair skin. (I blame the brits, or the migratory aryans). Yes, Indians are racist, self-derogatory (to our own race and color) etc.
But then there’s the flip side: My grandma. Here’s what she told me, jokingly, when I was a kid:
God was making humans in a deep-frying pan. (Yes, kids will believe anything)
After frying he took them out and put them on the earth.
some of them came out light colored : these were raw and undercooked people.
Some of them came out really dark/black : these were charred and overcooked people.
Some of them came out golden brown : these were perfectly done people!
Racist as it sounds now, back then, it just sounded yummy to be brown.
